Kaufmann to head Corporate Legal department

Effective from 15 February 2011, Dr Donatus Kaufmann (48) will take over as the new Head of Corporate Legal Affairs & Compliance at METRO AG. In this function, he will also serve as Group General Counsel and as Chief Compliance Officer of METRO GROUP. As General Counsel, Kaufmann will be responsible for all legal affairs of METRO AG and will in addition also advise the sales divisions and foreign subsidiaries. Kaufmann is joining METRO AG from Boehringer Ingelheim where he was Corporate Senior Vice President for the corporate division "Law Trademarks Insurance Real Estate/Corporate Legal" and Group General Counsel since 2004. In his new function, he will report directly to the CEO Dr Eckhard Cordes. 

Kaufmann had been employed with Boehringer Ingelheim in various executive positions since 2002, including Head of the Corporate Secretariat and of the Family Office of the owning Boehringer / von Baumbauch family. In his new position he follows Dr Rolf Giebeler, who will leave the company at his own request at the end of the year.
