METRO GROUP sells Real Turkey to Hacı Duran Beğendik

METRO GROUP signed an agreement with Hacı Duran Beğendik about the divestment of Real's Turkish operations. With this move, Real will fully focus on the successful development of its business in Germany. It was agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction still requires approval by the responsible competition authorities in Turkey and is expected to be closed in summer 2014. Turkey remains an important focus country for METRO GROUP's other sales lines METRO Cash & Carry and Media-Saturn.

The divestment of Real Turkey to Hacı Duran Beğendik covers all twelve hypermarkets and the headquarters. Real Turkey generated sales of €256 million in financial year 2012/13 and employs a workforce of around 1,800 employees.
