Jürgen B. Steinemann elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of METRO AG

  • Karin Dohm elected new member of the Supervisory Board
  • Prof. Dr. oec. Dr. iur. Ann-Kristin Achleitner and Peter Küpfer re-elected
  • Dividend of €1.00 per ordinary share and €1.06 per preference share

Jürgen B. Steinemann has been elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of METRO AG. Following his election as member of the Supervisory Board in the Annual General Meeting held today, the board elected Steinemann as its Chairman after the Annual General Meeting. Steinemann followed Dr. Wulf H. Bernotat on the METRO Supervisory Board and has already been a member of this panel since his appointment by the courts in September 2015. In addition, the Annual General Meeting elected Karin Dohm as new member of the Supervisory Board of METRO AG. Dohm, who has served as Global Head of Group Structuring at Deutsche Bank AG since January 2016, follows Franz Markus Haniel who had resigned from his mandate with effect from the end of this year's Annual General Meeting.

"I am looking forward to my new duties as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of METRO AG, to supporting the management and to providing the company with strategic guidance", said Jürgen B. Steinemann with regards to his election.

Prof. Dr. oec. Dr. iur. Ann-Kristin Achleitner and Peter Küpfer were re-elected to the Supervisory Board of METRO AG. Prof. Achleitner has been a member of the Supervisory Board of METRO AG since 2011 and Küpfer has held a chair on this panel since 2005.

The Annual General Meeting in addition resolved to pay the proposed dividend for financial year 2014/15 in the amount of €1.00 per ordinary share and €1.06 per preference share.

In total, around 1,000 shareholders attended today's Annual General Meeting of METRO AG.
